Something not working?

Write to hello@arete-app.org and a person reads it. Expect a reply within [e.g. two business days].

Before you write

These four things turn a two-week thread into one reply:

  • Your phone and OS version — iPhone 15, iOS 26.1, for example
  • The Arete version, from the bottom of the Progress tab
  • What you did, what you expected, and what happened instead
  • A screenshot, if the problem is something you can see

Things people ask

I lost my data / I changed phones

Arete keeps everything on the device and nothing on a server, so there is no account to restore from and we cannot recover anything for you. If your phone's own backup was on, restoring that phone's backup brings Arete's data with it. This is the trade for a journal nobody else can read.

My reminders aren't arriving

Check that notifications are allowed for Arete in your phone's settings, and that the slot is switched on in Progress. Reminders are scheduled by the phone in a rolling window and rewritten each time you open the app, so an app left unopened for many weeks will run out of scheduled reminders until you open it again. On Android they can arrive a few minutes late by design, because Arete does not claim the exact-alarm permission reserved for clock apps.

My ring won't connect

Bluetooth permission has to be granted, and the ring has to be out of its charger and not paired to another phone. If you have never connected a ring, Arete never turns Bluetooth on at all.

I forgot my PIN

[ANSWER THIS BEFORE LAUNCH. Today the PIN is a fixed value compiled into the app, so there is no reset flow. Decide what you tell a user who is locked out.]

How do I cancel?

Arete v1 is free, so there is nothing to cancel. If a subscription is added later, it will be billed by Apple or Google and cancelled in your device's own subscription settings, not here.
